Videoshoot for “Hearts Expire”

Here’s some pictures I took when we were shooting our video for “Hearts Expire” ( https://soundcloud.com/as-the-city-rumbles/hearts-expire ) along with some corresponding stories. We had a great team of friends helping us with everything and I think you’re all going to really love what we come up with when it’s done. Can’t wait to share the final result in a month or two when we’re done editing! 🙂
The making of our video ended up being a lot The idea behind it was to make Cat look like a passionate, pure pixy like character and then have a back drop of Hamilton factories. Well when we got to big "will remain nameless" factory a truck with some security guards came towards and asked if we were shooting something and asked for us to leave. I can be a pretty anxious, paranoid person but even I couldn't have imagined something happening so quickly! As a side note, for some comedic value, after we told the security guards we weren't shooting anything Cat comes out of the car with this beautiful outfit she had changed into holding a ballet slipper and not knowing what was happening said "one of the ribbons on my ballet shoes broke off". Needless to say we left very quickly. It didn't come out so clear but if you look really closely you'll see a flame coming out of that smokestack. Gotta love The Hammer!

Ballet Cat

Jake, our camera guy brought us to a dirt parking lot that led to a beautiful waterfall because he thought we may want to shoot there. I think we felt like we still wanted gritty so we didn’t shoot the waterfall but got some good B roll stuff in the lot. Some highlights included me posing in front of some painted hearts while a bunch of hardcore bikers came into the parking lot driving by me. Naturally Cat needed the ribbon on her ballet shoe sewed at that time too which I also did in front of the bikers. Who needs weapons? Apparently one can look tough with a sewing needle, ballet slipper and errant ribbon.- AP

Fun Locations

While we thought of what to do next we decided to get some more shots in a dirt road in rural Binbrook which is just outside of Hamilton. On the way there we drove past a rural garage sale and we though it would be cool to get some shots there with Cat. I spoke to the people running the sale and they were really kind and were happy to help us out. This was definitely a highlight of the day for us. Always nice meeting kind, helpful people! AP

After that we tried our look find a factory but Hamilton apparently likes to keep it's soot and grime secured. When embarking on gorilla video making with next to no money one must always be flexible with plans so that the day is fruitful. Giving up the original idea I led everyone to Dundas Ontario where there is some great wilderness and we finished our shoot in the woods.

  4. Sometimes the best laid plans that DON’T happen lead to even better results! Maybe it was just meant to be that you couldn’t use the original location for the video – these stills are fabulous….the video is going to be amazing.

          really focused on music 🙂 and Yeah the video – is being edited and we keep on going and going with new music –
          The new song That is almost ready – is our best One – I think 🙂 so i Can’t wait til it’s up …….Ashton is just mastering it now – which is what a producer does after all the parts of a song are mixed – so the song has perfect equilibrium….and is formatted for radio or film – you know all that stuff – mastering is like the final touches …….it’s like making sure that all the different sounds Fit 🙂

      Those were taken on his iPhone whilst the video was being shot by a Videographer named Jake Vincent 🙂
      whom is very talented – I had no idea Ashton was taking these pics …
      The video is still being edited and a new song is coming soon
      🙂
      There is a ton going on work wise for me right now , so i haven’t updated my site –
